GTD (Getting Things Done )

GTD it' s a simple principle: a person needs to move tasks out of the mind by recording them somewhere. That way, the mind is freed from the job of remembering everything that needs to be done, and can concentrate on actually performing those tasks.

That way, your work productivity gets better (or should be) ... GTD suposes that your are a motivated and ordened person.

GTD does not start his emphasis on setting priorities. Instead he advocates creating lists of tasks that are specific to a context, for example, having a list of telephone calls to make or errands to do downtown.

GTD suggests that any new task which can be completed in less than two minutes should be done immediately.

OTN Forum Member Rule

If your're using or administering Oracle Technology, probably are familiarized with OTN (Oracle Technology Network), and its formus. This formus you can find and GIVE solutions. Shay Shmeltzer's Weblog has an intersting post with 10 Rules to follow if you are an OTN Forum Member.

Source: Shay Shmeltzer's Weblog

THIS IS FROM SHAY'S WEBLOG

Five rules to getting a better solution

1. Have a meaningful subject line
I'm tired of seeing a subject line like "I need urgent help". Your subject should specify what the problem core is and in what area

2. Give details about versions and technologies
Are you using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 or JDeveloper 9.0.4? Are you using ADF BC or EJB?

3. Give detailed error messages
Don't say - it throws an error - tell us what the error is and give the stack trace.

4. If possible provide steps to reproduce the problem
If something doesn't work for you - I can't know why if you don't tell me what you did. Sometime you can even post code that reproduce the problem

5. Search before you post
It's for your own good - it brings you the solution faster. Search both the forum and Google for your question - you'll be surprised how many times you'll find a solution that someone else got.

Five rules to become a better member of the community

6. Get a name
In your forums preferences you can set up a name or handle that will help us recognize you (and even a link to your blog). Do you really want to be known as user5667847? Using your real name is even better - then when someone meets you in a conference or an event - They'll already know who you are.

7. Post the solution
If your issue was solved post the solution on the thread so others that run into the same error can fix it faster. Just writing "I fixed it" doesn't count.

8. Mark solved problems with [Solved]
Once you found a solution to a problem edit the thread and add [SOLVED] to the subject line. This will help people identify solved problems.

9. Track your threads
In your forum preferences check the option that alerts/emails you when your thread has been updated. This way you'll be able to get better response time and also answer follow up questions.

10. Don't just ask question - give some answers as well
The forum is a community - the community will only grow if you'll be an active participant. Posting question is just one side of the coin - actually answering other people questions is even more important. So go ahead and show off the knowledge you have gathered - it is the first step to take if you want to become an Oracle ACE.

Cracking Vista...

It's already done .. Vista can be cracked.

Source: Apcmag.com

A genuine crack for Windows Vista has just been released by pirate group Pantheon, which allows a pirated, non-activated installation of Vista (Home Basic/Premium and Ultimate) to be properly activated and made fully-operational.

Unlike cracks which have been floating around since Vista RTM was released in late November, this crack doesn’t simply get around product activation with beta activation files or timestop cracks - it actually makes use of the activation process. It seems that Microsoft has allowed large OEMs like ASUS to ship their products with a pre-installed version of Vista that doesn’t require product activation – apparently because end users would find it too inconvenient.

OEM Emulation

This version of Vista uses System-Locked Pre-Installation 2.0 (SLP 2.0). It allows the “Royalty OEMs” to embed specific licensing information into the operating system which Vista can activate without having to go back to Microsoft for verification. The licensing components include the OEM’s hardware-embedded BIOS ACPI_SLIC (which has been signed by Microsoft), an XML certificate file which corresponds to this ACPI_SLIC and a specific OEM product key.

Pantheon released a bundle which includes the certificate files from ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo along with OEM product keys for Vista Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate, and an emulator which allows the BIOS ACPI_SLIC driver for any manufacturer to be installed without requiring the system to be physically running that hardware. For example, you can install the ASUS certificate information on any machine, not just an ASUS.

And yes, the crack most certainly works. You end up with an activated, legitimate copy of Vista which passes all the Windows Genuine Advantage checks.

The release of this crack does make a bit of a mockery of the whole volume activation process. I was beginning to think the new activation process introduced with Vista might spell the end of easy and large-scale Windows piracy, and if the only way to activate Vista was to have it communicate directly with Microsoft, then that just might have been a possibility. But allowing such a workaround to OEMs just because their users might not like it has introduced a weakness into the system. Pirate groups are well known for exploiting any weakness no matter how small (as evidenced by the cracking of KMS), so once this activation process became known it was only a matter of time.

As the crack is tied to specific product keys, it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will be able to do anything about shutting out machines activated using this method. But their work will be made much more difficult now that such machines have completely bypassed the online activation process, and are connecting as legitimate copies of Windows.

Why do you blog?

Why do 55 millons persons blog? .. why do i blog? .. i really dont have an answer to that question.
There's all kinds of blogs... which one are you? .... personal, news, software, photography.. ??

First of all i decided to write in english ... so most people understand what i "try" to say. My first entries are related to some intersting news, for example, global heating, cientifics news, and even about my son's birthday.... but who cares about my son's birthday other than me and my family ?, for news you probably watch CNN.

I think that blogging is about interesting contents sharing ... for example ... i won't describe every thing i do in my job.. but if i resolve a problem working with an Oracle Database, i will share it... even if there's a thousands of Oracle DBA bloggers. If i found an interesting tip i will post it.

And finally if there's nothing interesting to say, i will post it anyway...

So, why do you blog ??? (just leave a comment)
